History of brewery and its beers
Between 1681 and 1917 beer was brewed here at the Bräurup in Mittersill.Schwaiger Rupert the brewmaster for Zell am See and our great great great Grandfather bought the then Schwertlgut brewery building and began his own business, the beer was of very high quality which made the brewery and the inn very popular with the locals, who no longer said " Lets go to the Schwertlgut " but instead said " Lets go to the " Brauer Rupert " and eventually " Lets go to Bräu Rup " and that has remained the name until this day. In 1917 due to the economic situation and the difficulty in obtaining quality raw materials for the beer it was decided to stop the production...
In 2006, 89 years later we decided to start up the tradition once more and built our own brewery.
We decided to completely rebuild our annnexe the " Stiegler Inn " and connect it to the Bräurup, 11 new rooms an 85 square metre massage and beauty parlor and of course the brewery. The heart of the brewery is the new 300l, 3 appliance brewhouse.
Our main job with these appliances is to brew beer for our hotel and restaurant.

The fermentation, maturing and storage all take place in the fermentation cellar where the beer can be pumped directly to the bar in the hotel.
Our main beers and some of our special beers can also be bought in bottles for you to drink at home, either in 1 litre bottles or 2 litre bottles. We also offer a party service where you can order 5 litre, 10 litre or 25 litre barrels or for those really special occasions the 50 litre barrel with cooling unit.
