Filming at Hotel Bräurup – when nature, tradition and stories meet
Last year, Hotel Bräurup welcomed a very special film crew to Mittersill. Part of a new documentary series was filmed in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park for the internationally renowned YouTube channel “Sasvim Prirodno” – and our hotel was right in the middle of it all.
“Sasvim Prirodno” is a documentary travel and nature channel dedicated to people, landscapes and ways of life that are in harmony with nature. The team travels all over the world – from Iceland to Lapland and Siberia. In Mittersill, they found exactly what they were looking for: living tradition, regionality and a respectful approach to nature and resources.
A guest in a house with history
The first episode focuses on Hotel Bräurup itself. The long history of our family-run hotel, which is deeply rooted in Mittersill, was just as exciting for the film crew as our daily work. The in-house brewery in particular, where the host still brews beer himself – using a craft that has been passed down through generations – was filmed in detail.
This was not just about beer, but about real knowledge, time, patience and responsibility towards a traditional craft.
Fly fishing, clear waters and a real nature experience
Another focus of the filming was our fishing. The fly fishing store with equipment, know-how and experienced guides is located directly in the hotel. Together we went out to some of the surrounding streams and lakes in Pinzgau – waters that are known for their stocks of brown trout and grayling and attract fly fishermen from all over the world every year.
We not only filmed, but also learned: about sustainable fishing, the sensitive habitat of the waters and why quality always comes before quantity here.
Pinzgau as it really is
The footage shows Mittersill and the Pinzgau region as we know and appreciate them: green valleys, white peaks, lively villages, alpine pastures with their own cheese production and people who consciously shape their homeland. Tourism yes – but in harmony with nature and regional life.
It is precisely this attitude that the film team from “Sasvim Prirodno” shares with our hotel.
