17 stages, 275 kilometers of hiking, almost 14,000 meters of ascent and descent each, a total walking time of approx. 96 hours: The Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail holds many a tough challenge even for experienced long-distance hikers. The start is at the thundering Krimml Waterfalls, a real place of power in western Pinzgau, while the rather tranquil mountain village of Hüttschlag in southern Pongau serves as a quiet, grounded destination. On the way there, you will pass countless highlights, including Lake Zell, the gentle Pinzgau Grass Mountains and the gold veins of the Rauris Valley. The one or other stop to linger and dream is a must.

With a total of 275 kilometers of hiking trail, around 14,000 meters of ascent and descent, and a total walking time of approximately 96 hours, the Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail also presents experienced long-distance hikers with challenging tasks. Discovery Tour to Mittersill

For particularly ambitious hikers, there is the option of completing the entire tour over several consecutive days. Vacationers, on the other hand, should consider exploring individual sections of the trail in order to enjoy the natural diversity of the Salzburg region in a relaxed manner. A highlight are the two stages that lead directly to Mittersill. The sixth stage starts at the Pass Thurn, leads to the Panorama-Alm and makes a stop at the Mittersill National Park Center, one of the region’s most attractive excursion destinations. On the seventh stage, which circles the Gaisstein, you can experience the silence and seclusion of one of the highest grass mountains in Europe.
