National Park Family Hike on Felberberg

Circular Tour for Your Family Holiday in Mittersill
For the Felberberg loop, which covers 7.25 km and 480 meters of elevation gain, you should plan approximately 3.5 hours, not including breaks. This family-friendly tour avoids overly challenging ascents, focusing instead on scenic beauty. The route starts directly in Mittersill at the Felberkirche church. At the Felben intersection, a road opens up on the left, which transitions into a forest path at the edge of the woods. After about 50 m, turn right onto the forest road (trail number 82) and hike uphill to Kaltenbrunn. At the water intake “Kaltenbrunn”, a gently ascending forest path leads southwest to Zaunwiese, then south to the Zwölferweg 530 turn-off, and finally downhill through the forest back towards Felben.
A shorter variant, taking approximately 2.5 hours of walking time, branches off downhill at Kaltenbrunn towards Zwölferweg 530. Not far from the Felben loop, there is also a spectacular gravel bike path of medium difficulty.
Felberkirche Church: A Point of Interest
While this refreshing National Park family hike reveals views that are difficult to put into words, its most magnificent spot is perhaps right at the beginning and end of the circular tour. The Felberkirche church is a popular wedding venue, leading to bustling activity from April to October. It’s not uncommon to encounter a cheerful wedding party. The originally Romanesque church, with its Gothic alterations and Baroque embellishments, shines with picturesque beauty, opulence, and grandeur. A look inside is always worthwhile, while the mighty Felber Tower serves as a wonderful landmark for this and other National Park family hikes.
