Ski Tour to the Pihapper in Mittersill-Hollersbach
Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden is a hidden holiday treasure in the Salzburger Land. The holiday region in the Hohe Tauern National Park combines quiet pleasures with active adventures and individual experiences. A ski tour on the Pihapper brings all this and much more to a common denominator, including a charming panorama.
The slender peak in the Tauern
The Pihapper is a popular destination throughout the year. Where hikers and mountaineers romp around in summer, ski tourers look forward to many a challenge in winter. The exposed location also provides excellent views. Once you have reached the summit at 2,513 m above sea level between Mittersill and Hollersbach, rugged rock giants, completely covered in snow in winter, spread out. No wonder that the Pihapper ascent is one of the most popular ski tours in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
The ski tour between Mittersill and Hollersbach
Our ski tour on the Pihapper exceptionally starts in Hollersbach, where the somewhat easier standard ascent is located at the Gasthof Berghof at approx. 1,200 m above sea level. From here, the Lachalmrundweg (No. 20) leads to the Lachalm in about an hour. Now follow the left-hand side of the terrain to the ski depot on the Pflugsberg (2,415 m above sea level). A narrow ridge leads to the upswing of the Pihapper summit, which is only recommended for experienced alpinists – without crampons, rope protection and even a short ladder, there is no getting ahead here. The fantastic view from the summit is worth the effort.
