17 stages, 275 kilometers of hiking, almost 14,000 meters of ascent and descent, a total walking time of approx. 96 hours: the Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail poses a tough challenge even for experienced long-distance hikers. The start is at the roaring Krimml Waterfalls, a real place of power in western Pinzgau, while the quite tranquil mountain village of Hüttschlag in southern Pongau serves as a quiet, grounded destination. On the way there, you pass countless highlights, including Lake Zell, the gentle Pinzgau grass mountains and the gold veins of the Rauris Valley. One or the other stopover to linger and dream is a must.
