Welcome to our in-house brewery in Mittersill
Right next to Hotel Bräurup is our own small brewery in Mittersill. Based on an ancient brewing tradition that dates back to the year 1681, we have been brewing unfiltered cloudy Märzen beer and our unfiltered wheat beer here in our in-house cellar ever since resuming in 2006. Cutting-edge technology and a good portion of love for brewing make it possible, and you can taste and enjoy that in our house. Prost!
The history of the brewery in Mittersill is closely connected to the emergence of the name Bräurup. In fact, it was our great-great-great-grandfather Rupert Schwaiger who bought the brewery in 1823 and, thanks to its excellent beer, it grew. The brewery soon became known far beyond town as well as its brewer Rupert, whose name inspired Brau Rup. Today, we mainly brew our two main beers, plus seasonal specialties for our hotel.
Your beer sommelier
Each beer on our menu, used in meal preparation or served with certain dishes, is hand-picked by our beer sommelier. Matthias Gassner, hotel manager and brewer in our brewery in Mittersill, disposes extensive expert knowledge on all things beer-related. He ensures that your stay at our beer hotel is truly enjoyable.
Tours and tastings
Being a hotel with its own brewery, we naturally offer brewery tours with optional tasting on enquiry. Guest groups from as little as six persons can take a look behind the scenes and sample current Bräurup highlights. We also invite external guests to beer tours.
