Fish from our own waters – lake, river and mountain stream. Game from local hunting grounds, delicacies from organic farming and fine produce from gardens and meadows: The pantry for our chef in the inn in Mittersill is diverse.

Culinary – Restaurant/Cuisine
What kind of cuisine does the Bräurup restaurant offer?
In the restaurant of the Hotel Bräurup, everything revolves around genuine Pinzgau cuisine – down-to-earth, honest, and with products that come from the region. On the menu, you will find classic Austrian dishes as well as traditional Pinzgau specialties. The offer is complemented by seasonal dishes that use whatever is fresh and ripe at the time. From the first asparagus in spring to game in autumn. For guests who prefer international classics, there are also well-chosen alternatives alongside the regional cuisine. In short: anyone who eats at the Bräurup in Mittersill tastes where they are. We are particularly proud of our fresh trout from our own Bräurup fishing waters.
Are there vegetarian or vegan dishes at Hotel Bräurup?
Yes, in the restaurant of the Hotel Bräurup, vegetarian dishes are a fixed part of the menu. Both for starters and main courses. The vegetarian options change seasonally and are based on regional ingredients from the Pinzgau. Those who follow a vegan diet are also very welcome: we are happy to prepare vegan meals on request. It is best to let us know briefly when making your reservation or at check-in so that the kitchen is optimally prepared. This way, we ensure that a full and enjoyable menu awaits guests with a plant-based diet. Our head chef Roberto is very creative in this regard.
Which dishes are particularly recommended in the Hotel Restaurant Bräurup?
Among the most popular specialties in the Restaurant Bräurup are fresh trout and char from local waters, Salzburger Nockerl, the Bräurup beer schnitzel, as well as the regional classics Kasnockn, Kaspressknödel, Zwiebelrostbraten, or Tafelspitz, which our head chef Roberto and his team prepare with full passion for our guests. A matching beer from the house brewery or an excellent wine, stored in the almost 300-year-old cellar vaults, is recommended to you by our sommelier Matthias Gassner.
Why are the Salzburger Nockerl at Restaurant Bräurup so popular?
The Salzburger Nockerl are among Austria’s most famous desserts and are traditionally prepared fresh here. The airy soufflé is only made after your order and therefore requires a little time. The three golden-brown peaks symbolize the local mountains of Salzburg. In the Restaurant Bräurup, the Salzburger Nockerl are served according to a classic recipe and are particularly popular with guests who want to enjoy a real regional specialty from the Salzburger Land and the Pinzgau. Here we recommend a glass of ice wine.
Are there regional fish dishes on the menu of the Restaurant Bräurup?
Yes. As a fishing hotel, fly-fishing hotel, and specialist for fishing holidays, we place great value on local, national, and international fish specialties. Depending on the season, closed periods, and availability, we serve, among others, trout and char from local flowing waters, regional mountain lakes, and from the Pinzgau and Kitzbühel Alps region. Tip from the beer sommelier: a wheat beer from the Bräurup house brewery goes best with fish. However, the wine sommelier is happy to recommend a perfect white wine.
Is there also a menu for children in the Restaurant Bräurup?
Are allergies or intolerances taken into account in the kitchen of Hotel Bräurup?
Most certainly, we are very happy to take any intolerances into account in the restaurant and in the kitchen. Allergens are specifically marked on all our menus. To be on the safe side, please inform our service staff about allergies or special dietary needs. The entire service team and the kitchen staff of the Hotel Restaurant Bräurup are excellently trained.
Do I need to reserve a table at Restaurant Bräurup?
Whether inside in one of the 200-year-old pine parlors, the vaulted parlor, or outside on the covered terrace, a table reservation is warmly recommended so that we can better cater to your wishes here at Restaurant Bräurup. Of course, in most cases, we will find a place for you even without a reservation. If nothing is available at the moment, we recommend our second house, the Hotel Restaurant Heitzmann on the town square. There, too, you can dine excellently a-la-carte and enjoy our beer from the house brewery.
How old are the parlors in the Hotel Restaurant Bräurup, which has been family-run for a good 200 years?
Our hotel restaurant was completed and opened almost 300 years ago in 1750. Since 1823, it has been run by our family, now in the 7th generation. You see, we love hospitality. The pine parlors have been delighting our guests for more than 200 years with plenty of traditional charm and coziness. The character of these parlors and the vaults is almost unique. We, the Gassner family and our team, look forward to welcoming you most warmly.
Is the Restaurant Bräurup also open to external guests and for a-la-carte?
Is there a terrace at Hotel Bräurup where you can sit, drink, and eat outside?
Yes, of course, in the family-run Hotel Restaurant Bräurup there is a very cozy terrace with a beer garden character. Here you can dine during meal times and otherwise simply sit comfortably all day long until late at night, drink, and enjoy excellent wines or home-brewed beer. The seats on the terrace are in high demand on beautiful summer days, so we recommend making a reservation early at 06562/6216. The terrace of the Hotel Restaurant Bräurup is also ideally suited and reservable for celebrations of all kinds.
Can I also book the Restaurant Bräurup for celebrations or group reservations?
But of course! You are welcome to reserve one or more of our 6 traditional parlors or the terrace at the Hotel Restaurant Bräurup for family celebrations, birthday parties, company dinners, travel groups, and bus tours. We also recommend discussing and selecting the food or menu choice in advance when making the reservation. Buses can park for free in the hotel’s own parking lot. The Gassner family and team look forward to your telephone inquiry at +43-6562-62160 or send us an email at hotel@braurup.at!
